Geisinger Health Foundation: Spring Donor Impact Update
See how your philanthropy allows us to deliver world-class care in central and northeastern Pennsylvania.
Geisinger Grateful
Generosity from donors like you helps Geisinger invest in technology, treatments and training that improve access to quality healthcare for our neighbors. Thank you for supporting our mission.
I give to Geisinger because...
Your generosity at work:
These are just a few examples of how your giving helps us improve care and make it easier for people to access in our rural communities.
- Leverage virtual technology to connect people with mental health care faster. As waits for individual sessions continue to climb and rural patients face access challenges, we’re using technology to help our neighbors receive mental health care from the comfort of home.
- Better access to specialty care in Luzerne County: A newly expanded Medical Office Building at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center makes better health easier by offering specialist care, labs, diagnostic imaging and pharmacy services under one roof.
- Help infants get a healthier start in life: The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) results in healthier babies, but enrollment in PA has dropped over the last 20 years. We’re researching why and how we can help.
- Prevent deadly diseases in those with greater risk. Geisinger’s MyCode Community Health Initiative uses genomic information to identify people at risk for cancer, heart disease and other conditions so they can take preventative steps – and it’s winning awards.
- Improve care for minority and LGBTQ+ people: A new grant will incorporate diversity, equity and inclusion into the fabric of internal medicine education and training.
- Customize ERs to accommodate the unique needs of children: Emergency departments trained and equipped to care for children are four times less likely to have a child die in their care.
